2001 Holden Rodeo over heated wont start

The bottom hose on the radiator let go and the engine over heated replaced the hose but cant get the engine to start it is just turnig over wont fire can you give me any clues

You may have broken the timing belt which runs the water pump which may have caused the overheat. Does it sound like the engine is freewheeling when its turning?

It does not sound like it is freewheeling and I can see the tappets thourgh the rocker cover going up and and I thought if the timming belt was brocken they would not be moving?

If theyre moving then youre right, its not broken. Now all you need to do is check for fuel, air and spark if its a gas. If its diesel, then you may have compression issues. Also check the wires on the engine and the plugson the ends of the wires. They may be going to a sensor for the engine and were damaged when they got too hot
