Engine Mechanical problem
1996 Infiniti I30 6 cyl Automatic 118000 miles

I have a tapping on the left side of my engine. Ive been told its the timing chain. Where can I get a mechanics manual to replace the chain? Is this something that I should let the dealer take on?
I also have a fuel pump which is going bad. Where do I access the pump?

Timing chain replacement is a very long task requiring removal of many components. Leave this one to the shop if you have limited experience and tools. Fuel pump can be accessed by removing the inspection cover beneath the rear seat.

Thanks for the response. My father has been a lifesaver and has been able to fix almost anything wrong with my car. I'm afraid he isn't going to have all the tools to repair the chain. We are looking for a mechanics manual. Any suggestions? If I take it into a dealer it will cost more than the car is worth. UGH!

You can purchase a repair manual for your vehicle at the link below..

I'll check out the manuals. I called on our local nissan dealer and they gave me an estimate of $1100 for just the labor. I just about collapsed! I'll see if my father is up to the challenge.
Thank you

Another issue I'm having is my Bose system is dying. It will turn off when I hit the cd eject button, and the sound will just go off my itself. Any thoughts.
I'm able to reset it if I take out 3 fuses but this time ive tried that and its not working. Another thing that needs replaced. Its going to be a fun weekend!
