On sept 2 2008 we had the alternator replaced.

Now the belt that goes to the crank pulley has come off and according to the dealer the belt has hit the powersteering pump and has caused that to leak. They claim the crack puller shifted and caused the belt to wear and come off.

They want to replace the crank puley, belt and the power steering pump.

Isn't the belt that goes to the alternator the same one that goes around the crank pulley? Should they have been able to see that the crank pulley had shifted?

As u see in the diagram alternator is set up high
and if they did not replace the belt there will be no need to go looking at the crank pulley unless if you came in with a belt problem
plus its been 3 month a lot can happen in 3 month
good luck
