Transmission problem
1997 Hyundai Elantra 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual

I have a 97 Hyundai Elantra. It has sat unused for 2 years. It never had a single problem starting - up to the time it was parked. Now the clutch will not depress and it won't turn over. It was parked in first gear. When the clutch was forcefully pressed it gave and bent the rod. Does this mean that I need to start with putting in a whole new clutch? I plan on doing most of the work myself but just not sure where to start. I don't want to start the clutch project if there is a different problem that I should tackle first.

Something sounds as though the it rusted. Chances are either the pressure plate has rusted or the slave cylender for the clutch is frozen. Check them and let me know what you find.
