Sounds like you have a bad ground. This means you will have to start looking at the wiring for corroded or loose connections(usually the black wire) Start from theb back of the vehicle and work you're way forward, open the connectors along the way and check the terminals to make sure there not green or burnt. I can't remember exactly but I think on certain years they had a small black box mounted in the back near the tail lights that had a small printed circuit in them to control the current and ground(where I am these things corroded fastand were the cause of many problems.
Another thing you might try is get a manual or wiring diagram for the car so you can see where the grounds are located and it'll be easier to chech them that way
