[b:e568bf4023]2000 Honda CRV with 56,500 miles.[/b:e568bf4023]
In regards to my original question I have a related question.
To fixed the problem based on your remedy. The mechanic could not fix it because the "lockout " was not happening. He said "if it is not broke don't fix it." The "lockout" was not happening now. [b:e568bf4023]It fixed itself[/b:e568bf4023] until yesterday.
My mechanic said bring it back when it happens again.
Before I do, I did some checking on Honda's recalls. On some of the 2000 models [b:e568bf4023]Civic, Accord and Prelude[/b:e568bf4023] were recall based on their ignition switch. [i:e568bf4023][quote:e568bf4023]Component: Electrical System: Ignition: Switch
[b:e568bf4023]Defect Summary: [/b:e568bf4023] ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE INTERLOCK OPERATION OF THE IGNITION SWITCH MAY NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY, MAKING IT POSSIBLE TO TURN THE IGNITION KEY TO THE "OFF" POSITION AND REMOVE THE KEY WITHOUT SHIFTING THE TRANSMISSION TO PARK
.[b:e568bf4023]Consequence Summary:[/b:e568bf4023] IF THE DRIVER DOES NOT SHIFT TO PARK BEFORE REMOVING THE KEY AND FAILS TO ENGAGE THE PARKING BRAKE, THE VEHICLE COULD ROLL AND A CRASH COULD OCCUR.
[b:e568bf4023]Corrective Summary:[/b:e568bf4023] DEALERS WILL PERFORM AN INSPECTION PROCEDURE THAT CONFIRMS INTERLOCK FUNCTION. VEHICLES WILL BE UPDATED WITH A REDESIGNED INTERLOCK LEVER FREE OF CHARGE. [/i:e568bf4023] [/quote:e568bf4023]
Even though No [b:e568bf4023]2000 CRV's [/b:e568bf4023]were recall for that problem, that does not negate the fact that it did not happen to them.
My question---"Are you aware of this problem based on the recalls of the 2000 models? And if so , does it seem like my problem may be a recall issue?
Is it a manufacturer defect and should it be there responsiblity to replace or fix?
Is my "lockout" problem the same as this recall problem?
