I have a 1993 Honda Sw wagon automatic that seems like it may be stuck in 2nd gear. This morning I could not go over 35 miles on hour @ 4k rpms. They shift indicator light is highlighted by P and D4 when key is inserted and engine is off. While in gear on D4, that is only indicator light illuminated, but is still in a low gear. If down shifted or geared in D1, the D4 light is highlighted as well as D1, or D2 or D3 and when put in park, the P and D4 light are still illuminated. It has done this in the recent past, but if has corrected itself when car has been left off for about an hour. Today, no correction has been observed after off for 24 hours and the problem persists. Any ideas.

Hi erikekuehn,

The D4 light would come on for 2 seconds at initial ignition On while the TCM is performing self tst. If any error is detected, the light would stay on and/or blink while the vehicle is running.

Retrieve the trouble code by bridging the SCs connec tor and countting the blinking of the D4 light. If no trouble codes can be retrieved, there is a possibility the TCM is faulty.
