1986 honda crx 1.6 about 190,000 miles
this began with a little white smoke coming out of the front of the hood, passenger side. Only enough to notice when the car is stopped. Soon after I drove it again and it overheated 4 miles later. I can see coolant had leaked as it was dripping under the radiator. I refilled the coolant and added some stop-leak and it seemed to run ok temp-wise again but smokes still. I have avoided long trips, but it doesnt seem to be leaking noticeably. Oh also it looks like there was oil in the coolant. Any advice or do you know whats causing the smoke? Thanks.

Hi there,

You may still have a coolent leak, it may be leaking onto the exhaust, best have the cooling system pressure tested for leaks, and as for stop leak in a can, don't waste your money, get it repaired it will not seal for ever and if it lets go, you may be up for big dollars to fix a problem that you might not have had if repaired in the first place. As for the oil in the coolent, we all know that the oil belongs in the sump, so there is a problem brewing that you best have checked out ASAP. You may have a leaking head gasket.
