1993 Honda Accord Manual 240000 miles

I blew the valve gasket and I changed that and the spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributer cap and roter. The car still will not start. I was told that if the roter turns while trying to start that it is not the timing belt and I tried getting a spark from the spark plug wires and I get one. But I still can not get it to start. The main thing that got me under the hood was that I was driving my car and it shut off on me like I had just turned the ignition off and it took a while for it to turn over and not it is trying to start but just will not click completly over to run. What can I do?

Hi stephanie123,

How did you blew the valve gaskets? Never heard of such a possibility yet.

Is the battery good? Voltage 12.4?

I guess you are able to crank the engine but it is not firing up? Get some starting fluid into the throttle and if it fires up then dies off, fule is not getting to the injectors.
Check the main relay and fuel pump.

My spark plug chambers were full of oil, my battery is new I just bought it. If will try that to see if that will work. When I was driving my car just shut off and would not start again would that make it do that? My car is fuel injected doest that make a difference?

Hi stephanie123,

You need to isolate the cause into
1. Fuel
2. Ignition (Sparks related)
3. Mechanical ( Tiing belt etc)

Follow the links below for more information on how to solve the problem and come back if you need any more help.
