Transmission problem
1992 Honda Accord 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My wife has a 92 accord with a AT. Sometimes the car will not go into 4th gear. D4 light starts flashing. Leave car sit overnight drives fine for the next couple days. I could only find the DTC codes for the a 93 on the web. If I put a jumper on the "Service Check Connector" it states the "S" indicator light should flash. The 92 does not have that but the "Check eng" light and the "D4" flash. CE 6 flashes (temp sensor prob) I can fix that. D4 gives one flash slowly. I cross that to the 93 DTC's that mean "lock control solenoid" problem. Can someone confirm this code for a 92 accord.

Hi mlennon,

Thank you for the donation.

For 92 models, the trans fault indicator is the D4 light.

A slow ( prolonged ) flash = 10.

It is the engine coolant temperature ( ECT ) sensor that is faulty. Engine and transmission control module both recording the same cause.

Rectifying the engine coolant temperature fault would solve the problem.

When engine and transmission both have DTCs, the precedence is the engine, rectify that first.
