Heater blowing cold air?

Hi,

I totally agree with you. The vehicle likely had a power loss before it was damaged, and the gauge would have indicated it.

Also, the first suspect would be a head gasket if it was overheated.

On the flip side, the first thing I would have checked with a no-heat issue would have been the coolant level. Was that done?

The one thing I'm questioning is the mileage between oil changes. Was it 20K since the last oil change? That can certainly lead to internal bearing/cylinder wear.

Let me know.

Joe

I had checked coolant the night before I took it to shop, and it was full. I don't know if they checked it or filled it after they put the water pump on. I'm being honest, no, the oil wasn't changed before 20,000. That was another thing I wanted that shop to do but they never got that far before blowing the head gasket.

The oil was well past due. However, by itself, that wouldn't cause the head gasket to fail. It could cause the engine to seize. Have you been able to get it turning again?

Thought I would update you on my truck that was blowing cold air from heater. Sorry to say that my truck is still sitting in the same place it was a month ago. They haven't done anything to it, because I haven't given them the go ahead to put a rebuilt motor in it for $6,300. I don't think I should have to pay anything for something they screwed up. So, it's in limbo at the moment.

As for the Chevy Colorado I turned the motor a little and left it there to sit for a couple days and I'll see if I can turn it a little more working with it slowly with my hopes up. Hope you had a very good Christmas and will have a great New Year to come.
Thanks Joe, will stay with you on all the issues until something good comes out of all this.

Hi,

Thank you for the update. I'm sorry to hear you are in this predicament. I'm here when you need me, so let me know what I can do to help.

Also, I hope you had a great holiday yourself. Mine was interesting because the furnace (2 years old) failed as soon as the temperature and winds went crazy here. Ugh! LOL negative 30-degree wind chill and no heat.

Regardless, let me know what I can do to help. Also, if you want to replace the engine yourself, let me know. I can help you through it.

Take care,

Joe

You have been so helpful. I feel like I'm in good hands with all that you know about vehicles.
Thanks Joe very much for your time. I'm going out to see if I can turn that motor on the chevy Colorado a little bit more.

Thank you very much. The best I can do is try. LOL You are the one that makes it happen. I have a favor to ask. I need you to start a new thread regarding the Chevy. We try to keep the threads specific to one topic, so it is more helpful to others.

I truly hope you understand.

Here is the link to start a new thread:

Again, I hope you understand. I will watch for the new thread.

Take good care of yourself.

Hi,

Wow! Have you tried contacting them to see why there is such a delay? Two weeks is a long time.
