Speedometer stopped working

Yesterday I took my 1999 Chevy Cavalier (very low mileage) to the dealership for an oil change and tire rotation.

That evening, as I drove away from the dealership, I noticed that the car didn't seem to be accelerating as usual. I glanced at the dashboard and saw that the speedometer was dead. I immediately returned the car to the dealership.

This morning the service manager told me that she'd drive the car and get back to me later today. I'd like to be armed with enough information to avoid having them take unfair advantage of me.

A quick search on the Internet suggests to me that the problem might be related to the vehicle speed sensor, which is located near the passenger-side axle. I'm wondering if it might have been damaged during the tire rotation. Your thoughts?

I dont think the tire rotation has anything to do with that as most of the sensors are protected from the outside elements, all they do in a tire rotation is take all the tires off and switch them around according to your vehicle's specfactions. The speedometer problem might be a blown fuse or the sending unit. Not sure about the slow acceleration, might have something to do with the oil change

OP here. It was just a loose connection. The service tech said that he might have bumped it when he changed the oil filter. A big relief for me!
