I have a gmc sierra 2500 hd. I was driving down the highway at 75mph and when I came to a stop the truck stalled and would not fire back up. I towed the vehichle home and got it to crank the first time. When I turned the engine off it would not fire back up. I let it sit over night and the next morning it would not crank. I dropped the tank and pulled out the fuel pump and it looked fine so I hooked it back up the the power and turned the ignition and it pump the gas out of the system. Then I put the pump back in the tank, without reinstalling the tank and the engine fired right up like nothing had gone wrong. I did this several times and it cranked up everytime. Is the pump going out or it something else starting to fail?

You should have checked the fuel pressure prior to removing the tank and disturbing the pump, once you rattle a bad fuel Pump it starts working again, if the truck dies on you again just get underneath it and hit the tank and the pump will turn back on, if that is the case. The pump is no good, but at any rate. Check your fuel pressure and make sure it's within the limits, remember, if it's 1 or 2 pounds below the limits. It will not run correctly, it has to be within the specifications.
