Replaced the fuel pump and filter bought a cheep one then after 7 months no problem. Until I ran it out of gas. After canned in some gas, then it started and I filled it. It then started sometimes others not until now just plain no. I rented the pressure tester from AutoZone and its barley any pressure less than 1. Lots of air bleeding from line. Almost turned over but no. I want to know if the pump and pressure can be tested in line too or if only at fuel rail. Also if I run elect from battery direct to connector will it ground? There are 3 prongs in connector. How can I differentiate if it is weak clogged pump/filter versus injectors, electrical?

Hello,

Okay, so fuel pumps either work or they don't. So if you are developing any fuel pressure at all then it's not going to be the fuel pump. There are a couple of things that can be going on from the pump to the fuel rail and there can be a problem with the wiring going to the fuel pump, all can cause your vehicle's problem. So this is going to be a process of elimination, so please be patient. Let's start with the electrical. In the diagrams down below I have included the engine management wiring diagrams along with the fuel pump electrical connector locations and pinouts. So with a helper turning the ignition key to "RUN" have your Digital Multi-meter [DMM] in place and take a voltage reading at pin 4 of the fuel pump electrical connector. If you are not familiar with how to use a DMM, here is a link below explaining how to use one:

Please get back to us with the reading and we can go from there. Happy Holidays.

Thanks,
Alex
