I have a 2000 Ford Taurus SE 3.0L V-6 DOHC with 96,500 mi on it. My dad just purchased it for me, and went to start it. Battery was dead, so he put a charger on it. It started, then he took charger off and it died. Then put charger back on, started it, then it proceede to idle. What's the deal here? Alternator looks new. Also, the driver side window is down, wont come up, and the passenger and rear windows are up, but wont come down. Dad is a "backyard" mechanic for like 40+ years, thinks it's the fuse, but don't know where the fuse for the windows are. Your ideas are helpful.
Thanx

Use a voltmeter across battery terminals. You should be getting 13+ volts from alternator. If you are not check the wiring to/from alterantor or replace. Check fuses 10, 11, and 26 in underhood fuse/relay box. Also the window circuit is controlled by the GEM(generic electrical module). So it could be a fault in this.
