Hi Guys,

I did some work on my taurus yesterday, wheel bearings, tie rod ends, sway bar links, and ball joints. When I was all finished, I put the tires on, and was cleaning up, I kicked the chock out from behind the back tire. The car rolled back and made a clunk noise. Now it rolls in all gears. I checked the shift linkage, and everything is is the proper location. When I start the engine, and put it in reverse, the engine revs up slightly, and when you step on the gas, revs like it is in neutral. When I try to put it back in park, the gears grind horribly, and I just shut if off right away. When in any of the forward gears, it does the same thing, doesnt move. I put it up on jackstands again today, and check the axles, and both are seated properly to the trans. I checked all fuses, and everything is ok; I am power cycling it as we speak. Please help!

Thank you!
Rob

The noise you hear is the parking sprag engaging with the insides moving. That tells me the trans is working, but not attached to anything. You really need to recheck your work. One of the axles is not attaching.

After I made the first post, I went out and was doublechecking everything. Then I noticed the when you turned the axleshaft on the passenger side, the shaft spun inside the inner CV joint, and the cup didnt spin. So, I must have broken something inside the CV joint. Ill get a new one and put it on tomorrow.

Thank you so much for your feedback! I dont think words can express how much I apprecieate it. :-)
