hey I need to charge my AC but iv been told by a friend that by law I can't buy the R12 that is required for it any more .......I dont know ......

so do I need to switch out my condenser to a R134a condenser

You can't buy R-12 anymore. If you want to convert to 134-a, you can buy a kit at an auto parts store with new o-rings and oil. You should also change the accumulator. You have to get most of the old oil out of the system, taking the compressor and other ccomponents out and draining them. Then you have to change all the o-rings on the compressor and the rest of the system. Then you have to follow the proper evacuation, leak test and fill procedure.
