I have a 1993 Ford Probe 2.0litre automatic.

It has been very well maintained. Recently it will stall out for no reason when driving. Like it loses spark or something.

It also now will eventually stall while idling after about 10 minutes or so.
The distributor assembly was just changed about 7months ago.

It has a new fuel pump, spark plugs are good, new spark plug wires, cap and rotor look good.

The IAC valve was cleaned out and made a huge difference in power. MAF sensor was checked and I tried to clean it carefully as well. Fuel filter was recently changed.

I have also checked for any vaccuum leaks but all hoses seem to be excellent.

If this CEL gives me a code 02(Crankshaft position sensor) How can this be fixed? Would it cause these symptoms?

Please let me know as this car has alot of life left in it and has been well maintained.

Thanks guys. It means alot!

The crank sensor tells the computer when to fire the coils and injectors.
So yes the crank sensor could be failing, especially after you drive for 10 minutes and it starts getting hot from the engine.

I say replace it.
You've got the code, and you've got the symptoms.

Sorry for the late response, I should have got a message that you respond to this thread again.

Anyway, yes it's in the distributor, I just check some prices and it would be cheaper for you to buy a reman'd distributor than to buy the pickup coil and change it yourself.

YIKES.

Yea. NP. Thanks for the help.

I had my distributor assembly changed 7 months back or so. It was under warranty-so it was just changed again the other day.

Problem still happening on my car-apparently the PCM is going.

Need a new one.

Thanks.
