In the last week I have spent $700.00 dollars trying to have my van repaired. It's a 1994 E-150, V-8, 351w. It has 102,000 miles on it. The van has no power when driving. The ignition module has been replaced twice, one new ignition wire. Compression check, fuel pressure check and scanner says the ECM is fine. I bought the van about 3 weeks ago and it ran fine until last Thursday. Please help me, I can't afford anymore $700.00 dollar repair bills.

Have someone check the timing. It sounds like retarded timing. Make sure they remove the spout when the timing is checked. Good luck

After checking this, what kind of problems should I be looking forward to and what area of cost? I don't mean to be a pest or problem, I just want to have some kind of knowledge when having it ckecked. I'm just not looking forward to any more guessing on the shops part. ? ? ?

GOD Bless,

I know the feeling even after 40 years as a garage owner, I still hate to see the crooks give us old pros a bad name.

A friend had the same problem with the same van and I replaced the distributer and set his timing and all was well.

What I would do is locate the "spout" It has two wires and an odd looking gray plug. On your van it is located in the area below the left hood hinge.
Remove the plug and hand turn the distributer until the engine increases RPM. Keep doing this until it seems to run better yet doesn't ping or start hard. Every time you move the distributer shut off the engine and put the spout plug back in. This is old seat of the pants repair but it still works. Don't worry if you set a check engine light. Let me know
