Ford, E-250, 1998, 150000 mi, 6cyl. Vehicle starts great. In park and neutral runs good. But, noticable, intermitent, slight loss of steady idle. With transmission in any gear, the same erratic loss of idle power causes motor to stall, at stop. Vehicle is drivable. When driving must put tranny in neutral as I approach stops. Otherwise it stalls. During any driving speed, the van slightly jumps when this power loss occurs. This intermittent power loss ocurs frequently but not constantly at all speeds. About every minute. Have cleaned fuel system. New plugs, wires, egr, exhaust, checked all vacum and electrical connections. Set timing. New water temp sensor, cap and rotor. Topped fluids, new brakes and lines, rotors, have good fuel pressure and spark, just need some good experience.

When I bought the van (used ) the light was broken, the truck was shaking in rear end and the motor, also. At that time I found a loose vacum line, which I repaired. That fixed the motor. I installed new u-joints under the rear end and that fixed the rear end vibration. The previous owner sold it just because of these 2 malfunctions. He was not mechanically inclined and did not have the time ( or patience ) to fix them. After this previous repair the van drove better than some of my newer vehicles. It was at this time I removed the dash and replaced the bulb to the check engine light. The socket was getting power but the light would not light up. Since then the light has never lit up. I've hooked up code reader with no results. I am going tomorrow to replace the plugs and wires again. I may have a malfunction in one or more wires. Will procee to disconnect electrical onnector to map sensor to see if there is any difference in operation. And to remove and clean carbon from the idle ir control. Please advise me to any other manual diagnostics that can be done to attempt to diagnos. Thank you.
