I'd have to check the feed to and from the brake switch. The feed from the brake switch goes through the multifunction switch.

Yes a fuse circuit breaker a 20 amp one will be sufficient where it won't damage anything. Auto parts should have that

Thanks, the connector that I found has four wire colors that don't match the fuse circuit I'm on. How could this cause my fuse to blow and not other fuses?

That is the classic symptom of a bad ground on the right side. If I am right, the right bulb will not work at all if you remove the left bulb. Current goes through the right bulb, cannot find the path to ground, so it goes through a different filament, then over to that same filament on the other side, then to ground over there.

Usually this symptom involves a brake light and a tail light in a single bulb with a common ground. If your truck uses the same bulb for the signal and the brake light function, the signal switch is also a good suspect.

Did you check applicable fuses? Use a voltage tester. At the rear, the brown wire is voltage for tail lamps, goes hot when you turn on the headlamp switch. Black wire is ground. The other wire is voltage for stop and turn, they use the same bulb filament, just not at the same time.

For brake lights try trip switch on brake pedal. Test for juice in, and out when pedal pressed. If it has juice in but not out it's bad.

My first thought is the multifunction switch has a problem. You can also check for voltage and ground at the rear.

The diagram should be for left rear. Brown wire is voltage for tail lamps, black is ground.

Double check that you have the correct bulbs and you have a good ground for the tail lights.
