Had similar problem on my 5.0 '96 F-150. Turned out to be the fuel inertia switch. It appears to have tried to trip for whatever reason, but crud buildup around the button was preventing it, so sometimes it would lose connection, and the truck would just shut off. Usually it would start back up in an hour or 2.I replaced the crank sensor, ICM, front fuel pump(had a bad check valve anyway)and a relay to no avail. Went through Chilton diagram and found that switch, figured it was worth checking out. Fiddled with it, cleaned it, tripped it in and out a few times, truck started and haven't had a problem since.
