i would like to know if my bottom ball joints can be replaced at home. We replaced both the top ones but are not quite sure if the bottoms can be done or if it has to b done at a garage. If it can be done at home is there any special tools that will b needed.

The ball joints on the Explorer are integral with the control arm. If the ball joint is defective, the entire control arm must be replaced. As far as replacing that, I feel you should be able to do it at home.
