No oil pressure

My 2003 Ford Expedition 4.6L has a blown head gasket. The mechanic says ther is no oil pressure and suggest engine change. Are there any alternatives to this? The vehicle starts and runs.

If there is no oil pressure at all, check the oil pump drive, it may be broken or the pickup screen is plugged. Check the oil level for leak and check if the gallery plugs are leaking. Also check if there is a hole in the pickup tube.
