I have a 1999 Ford Expedition XLT 5.4L engine with 131,000 miles. The engine starts fine but then when placed in gear the engine stalls out. The engine light is on and remains on after the engine is started. Sometimes the vehicle will function for a short distance but stalls once the vehicle has come to a complete stop. It idles fine in "Park" and in Nuetral. It only stalls out when it is in reverse or in drive. Is this the fuel pump or O2 sensor or possibly something more.

Need to find what codes are in the computer to begin to narrow it down.
Fords seem to have egr and dpfe troubles, but wouldn't jump to that without knowing the codes.

Definitly needs to be scanned for codes. IAC motor, vacuum leak would be places to start. Inspect where the pcv line connects to the rear of the intake, Ford had issues with the rubber going soft and creating a vacuum leak. Good luck
