Brake indicator lamp in dash

I have a 2002 Ford Excursion 6.8 liter V-10 with 118000 miles. The brake warning lamp in the dash is iluminated. What should i look for?

The first thing I would check would be your brake master cylinder fluid level. If it is low add dot 3 brake fluid to fill it back up, and check it in a day to week later and see if the fluid level is the same if it is not then something is leaking and you need to find out where the brake fluid is going.
