1994 Ford ESCORT 1.9 LITRE. 101,000 miles. I have very little heat and even then it's only for a few moments. The temperature gauge acts as if I do not have a thermostat as it goes up and down as I drive, but the thermostat is brand new and can only go in one way (idiot proof). I flushed my heater core and it seems to be fine and it does not leak. The door flap that opens and closes when I change from defrost to heat, etc is working properly and moves the way it should. The blower motor and fan turns fine as well. Why am I still not getting any heat? Help! Oh, my car is not equipped with any heater control valve either.

it is very possible that your water pump is not forcing enough water through the system. and it is not uncomon to get a bad thermostat so i wouldn't rule it out. (the point side out towards the radiator).(NOS) 8) also check your belt routeing and make sure it is right if it has been changed and not instald corectly, it could be turning the pump the wrong way

also make sure that the knob inside is not broken on the back you might be turning it but it may not be turning for the heat. pull it off and take a pair of needle nose pliers and see if it turns any more or just make sure the knob is not broke. (NOS) 8)

fuse jump the fan, check the relay and fuses, if you got a new radiator fan motor make sure its for A/C, check for shorts or misguided wiring problems.

NOS seems to have the right idea on this one.
Sounds like a bad water pump.
