Ford Escort 1986 Heater Core

How do I remove the heater core on a 1986 Ford Escort with AC? It has the core with one pipe over the other.

I have spent quite a bit of time under the dash, but I cannot figure it out. The hoses are already disconnected from the core.

Some Fords you have to remove the dash and the entire plenum box. That includes evacuating the A/C. If there isnt an access hatch on the bottom of the plenum box then that might be where you are heading
