97 escort died in traffic. Trys to start but wont turn over. Fuel delivery is fine and the timing belt is ok was given code P1443. The spark at the plug is weak and some times not there.

This code is for the charcol canister purge valve sensor. This will not create a weak spark however. What color is the spark from the plugs? The weak spark can be plugs, plug wires, coil pack, or ignition module.

It should be blueish white or white that is a very hot spark. If it was red or yellow then I would find it a problem. So you have spark. Now how much fuel pressure do you have? The amount of fuel is irrelivent it is the pressure that makes the difference of weather or not an injector will open. That will be the other thing that will need to be checked is the injector pulse but one thing at a time.

No it shouldn't cause it not to start. I may run rich or something but thats it. Now have you tried spraying carb cleaner down the trottle body and seeing if it will start? If not try that if it starts then it is not getting fuel.
