My 96' Escort 1.9L engine holds full fuel line pressure at the test gauge after shutting car off resulting in the inability to restart. How do I resolve this problem? Thanks, Jim

Car starts fine as long as fuel pressure drops off after turning off engine. But what is causing the fuel to remain at full pressure after engine is turned off. Thanks jim

You need a fuel pressure for the engine to start
you telling me engine will not start until have no fuel pressure
AM I getting this wrong !
When key on fuel pump should come on and after engine off fuel pressure should stay on for a while and then it leaks back to the tank
if you have fuel pressure and engine will not start check for spark and check for injector pulse

The gauge reads 7psi after pump stops with key on. After the car starts the gauge jumps up to 30 psi and holds steady while running. When I turn the key off the pressure either drops down to 0 psi (and will restart) or stays at 30 psi and car wont start. Im assuming theres a check valve thats faulty in the system but wasnt sure if its part of the fuel pump or an item located at the engine. I have pulse at the injectors and spark at the plugs. Thanks jim
