1995 Ford Escort 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic
overheats when excellerating or climbing hills and cools back down when decellerating or decending a hill. It is not waterpump, radiator cap, heater core, clogged radiator, thermostat, low coolant, or dragging brakes. Could it be weak bottom hose that sucks closed under a load? Or maybe transmission is not working properly? Sometimes it seems I have to really mash the throttle to get it to move! I'm at my wits end but have seen old soft hoses collapse when put under strain. Please help me. This just started all of a sudden and I think i've thought of everything! Sorry It slipped my mind but, all relays and fuses are good and electric fan does come on automatically when temp rises. I can hear it running and can see it is on when I look under the hood, although I cant look while driving.(I hate elec. Cooling fans, need to be belt driven like good old days) fan makes ticking noise when rotated by hand and has resistance so I assume it is good.
