With this type of fault, there can be several different things causing it. For example, it could be an issue with the airbag system, brakes, and so on.
Because there are many possible causes, the first thing that needs to be done is to scan the can-bus system for diagnostic trouble codes.
CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, the different modules are tied together via a few wires. With this type of scan, it should identify stored codes regardless of the module storing them.

I realize most people don't have this type of scan tool, but this is where we need to start. Otherwise, it will become a guessing game which can become costly.
