The engine will run fine while moving with the air conditioning on. It will shut off as soon as you come to a stop. I turn off the a/c, restart the engine, and drive away, then turn a/c back on. It runs fine until I stop, then it will shut off again.

Either you have a vacuum leak or the idle air control valve (IAC) is bad.

I was thinking maybe a voltage regulation problem. I will check it all out. Thanks very much.

Why do you say voltage regulator? Is the battery light coming on?

My belief is the idle air control valve (IAC) is the issue, but like I said, a vacuum leak can cause the issue too. The IAC is responsible for maintaining the engine idle speed. With the AC on, there is an added load on the engine. As a result, the computer should adjust the IAC to compensate for the extra load. If the IAC isn't working properly, the engine may stall at an idle.

Thanks again, I guess I was fishing for a cause with the voltage regulator idea.
I'm going to check the IAC and the vacuum lines today.
