Already replaced battery; fuel pump and filter. This is the fourth time the car just will not start. The last time was right after the fuel pump was installed. It finally started so we thought it was just water in the tank. I had just a quarter tank of fuel. I filled the tank with high test gasoline. No more problems starting until the tank was down to a quarter tank again. Now it will not start again.

Hello,

It sounds like you have a crankshaft angle sensor that is out but we should run the codes first to see what comes up.

Please run down this guide and report back.

Cheers, Ken

Midas was the ones who installed the fuel pump. They did a diagnostic and claimed I needed a distributor cap and rotor. For price of $1,200.00. I told them no way I would pay that much. So they ended up replacing the distributor and rotor. For $386.00. (Includes a $69.99 diagnostic charge). I did some research on the internet and came with a price of $165.00 for these parts they wanted to sell me for $1,200.00. I also called another auto shop and was quoted $225.00 for these parts installed; (services are also called a tune up). I gave Midas a very bad review on Yelp and also on their web site. This is the third time Midas has fixed this same problem. (Car cranks but will not start). To correct this problem, I already purchased spark plugs and wires; then the fuel pump and filter all from Midas at a price of over $1,300.00. Now I just spent another $386.00. I will never go back to Midas again. Time will tell. It may still be the crankshaft angle sensor that is the problem.

Yes, some chain stores can be iffy. The crankshaft sensor would be my first guess. Here is a guide to help you see what you are in for when changing the sensor out:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/crankshaft-angle-sensor-replacement

When these sensor go out they usually dont set a code. Here is the location for your car.

Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Cheers, Ken

I have also purchased a new starter from Majestics Automotive group about a year ago. I will go there in March to check on the crankshaft sensor. They do good work it just sometimes a long wait for service. ( Muscle Cars and rims)
