My 2003 Mitsubishi Diamante suddenly won't start. This is the second time it's happened. It will crank over, but won't catch. It happened last week but in the morning it was fine and has started perfectly for the past 3 days. Now it won't start. The electrical system seems fine and so is the battery. No engine lights have come on. What is it?

You need to check for spark and fuel to the engine. One will be missing.

This guide will help.

Just bought car about two weeks ago.
3/7 9:00pm fiancee calls says car will not start
turns key all dash lights work and are bright but no ignition, car does not turn over at all. I arrive try start and the is no clicking of starter, I can tell something is prohibiting ignition. So just to be sure I try to jump it off, jumper cables touch lots of spark=not battery. So I look for blown fuses=could not find any blown. Shen mentions something about opening trunk and then it not starting, so on whimm I open close trunk and go back to try starting=it starts!

Runs/starts fine all day Sunday, then Mon morning same thing=NO START! I asked her if she tried the trunk thing again she said yes. I am out of ideas please help.

Hi mmnicholnuts,

Thank you for the donation.

Your problem seems to be the immobilizer being activated causing the non starting and since it is related to the trunk lid, there is a possibility it is not registering.

Get a scan done to retrieve Diagnostic Trouble Codes so that we can proceed with with rectification.

Recheck your work and you need to find out what is missing causing the nonstarting. Go to the link below for more information.

Cranks but no start condition:

Fuel and Spark:
Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine at least 3/16 away from ground -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it.
