Have excessive shaking in the front end starting at speeds of 60+ miles. Shakes so bad, rattles the cup holder. Can hear and feel a thump on the drivers side(front) when I turn the steering wheel. Had new tires and springs/ie rods put on a year ago and after that the thump and shaking occurred. Took it back 3 times and they changed the tires out twice with no solution. Took it to a dealership and they stipulated that it COULD be the drive shaft at $3000.00. Do not drive it much, am scared to. Any ideas/solutions?

First, the drive shaft shouldn't cost anwhere near 3000 dollars. And it's not hard to replace. Second, is there any noise associated with the vibration? Third, has anyone simply checked the u-joints? Finally, do you feel the vibration more in the steering or the seat of the vehicle?
