The truck will start with no problem as long as it has been sitting for several hours. But driving it (at non-hwy speeds), then shutting off the truck. It will not start 10-15 minutes later. It eventually starts after "pumping" the gas pedal repeatedly. Is this a fuel pump problem? The battery is strong and the engine cranks but will not turn over unless the gas pedal is pumped.

Hi zdietrich, Welcome to 2carpros and TY for the donation

Best time to catch this problem is don't wait-get a fuel pressure gauge handy and when it happens check the fuel pressure if its 44-54psi if okay Test the fuel pump relay and ASD relay

Where are the fuel pump relay and ASD relay? How do you test them?

Both are in the power distribution center-you can try swappinlg like relays around and see what happens.

To test the relays you need a DVOM to check the coil and switch side of the relays-The coil side should be 40-80 ohms and the switch side is infinite

Is it possible this condition is the result of a dirty fuel filter?

To confrim if its the fuel filter the fuel pressure must be checked to rule it out to include the fuel pum and intank pick-up sock. For good preventive maintenance just replace it-
