I have a 1979 Dodge Omni and the battery won't stayed charged. I've replaced everything I can think of. Has anyone had a similar problem - how did you fix it?

These have an alternator mounted on rubber bushings to reduce vibration. Since it is isolated, it needs an external ground strap or wire. The straps rust apart quite often resulting in a no-charge condition.
