Camshaft Position Sensor

I have a 1999 Dodge Neon, Long story short check engine light came on ran scanner and it comes up cam position sensor faluty. Took old one off and went to all local auto part stors to enclude the Dodge dealership and the old part is different than what they all offer. The cam sits out about a 1/8 of an inch and the old sensor was recessed for that but the new ones are flush. Any clue?

I've run into re-designed parts that just didn't look right. I have also found on a several Mopar application that you need to buy a new connector with it. IF the dealer said that the one, then as long as it fit, I'd go with it.
