I need to know how easy it is to fix a camshaft position sensor, and where it is located in the car?

Hello, should be located on the rear of cylinder head. The code doesn't tell you what to replace, only that the computer thinks there is a problem on that circuit. I have heard of the crank or cam sensor causing a code to set for the other sensor. You probably need to check both.

Hello and welcome to 2CarPros. That code can be pretty tricky to diagnose. Inspect the wiring harness. They get very brittle and sometimes short out. Look around the passenger side axle. If the harness is dangling it could be rubbing on the axle causing a short with no start. If the harness is good then the crank sensor is faulty. With a code like this I always replace both cam and crank sensors. The crank sensor is no more then $30.00 but really tricky to get to the 10mm bolt when you crawl under the car.

I would recommend replacing the crank sensor since that is the culprit with the vehicle stalling out randomly and no starts if a visual inspection of the harness is good. But as stated earlier, I did have one Neon shorting out to the axle and actually caused a fuse to blow out. So check fuses also. If blown out defiantly a harness shorting out. Let us know on the fuses and harness please.

My 1999 neon 2.0l dohc broke the timing belt and ruined the head. I got the new head installed no problem but it wont run. Its has spark and compression, but the fuel injectors wont let the gas through. I changed the cam position sensor and installed the original magnet ring still nothing. What controlls the injectors?

Im wondering a if its the pcm or ecm. Maybe the crank sensor. I checked the injectors they work electricly when 12v put to them I really dont know what to do next.

Got it. The cam sensor can cause that but how did you arrive at that conclusion? The crankshaft position sensor is also involved. If the timing belt jumps two teeth, the Engine Computer will shut the engine down to protect the valves. It does that by turning off the automatic shutdown relay. That removes the voltage to the ignition coil pack, injectors, and a few other things.

There should be a diagnostic fault code related to which sensor has failed or if the two are out of sync. Chrysler makes getting those codes real easy. Cycle the ignition switch from "off" to "run" three times within five seconds without ever cranking the engine, then watch for the codes to display in the odometer. Holler back with those codes.

Well my buddy came over and hooked his scanner up to it and it showed that the pcm wasnt gettin a signal from the cam sensor.

Alright I put the new cam sensor in and now when I got 2 start it, it doesnt even turn over, it clicks once then nothin. Any suggestions

That sounds like battery connection problems. Turn on the head lights and watch how bright they are. Watch what happens to their brightness when you try to crank the engine.
