I have a 2006 Dodge Dakota SLT with 36,000 miles and it does not want to start when cold. I have taken it to the dealership and it started for them so they didn't bother with it. I live in Florida so it doesn't get cold but in the morning and evening the motor turns over about 15 times before it starts. I only drive it everyother day but it seems the more I drive it the better it starts. If I run into a store it starts right back up when I come back out.

Hi:

I have a couple suggestions. First, I would take the truck to a nationally recognized parts store like Auto Zone, Advance. Have them scan it for you, and check to see if there any trouble codes. Keep in mind, these parts stores usually scan for free.
If there are any codes, let me know.

Second, I wonder if the fuel pressure is droping in the system over night or a period of time. The fuel system is pressurized, but there may be a leak causing it to drop. Have you have the fuel pressure checked? Maybe you could have that done after the truck sits overnight and explain to the mechanic you're curious if the injection is still primed with fuel and if there is still pressure in the system before the car is started.

Let me know what you find.
