2003 Dodge Caravan Alternator output

I had my battery replaced by Sears. They told me there was a wave signal at the battery terminals according to their tests. I was told this is an AC indication at the battery and it should not be there. They told me I needed to have my alternator replaced. I have an extended maintenance contract, so I took it to my Dodge dealer. They told me that in Dodge automobiles this is a normal condition. Can you please explaine why this is different for Dodge than all other makes of automobiles? Or is this common to other makes of cars? Is the Sears battery different than the Moped used by Dodge?

This is common and not only with Chrysler products. Also, there is no difference between the Mopar battery or the sears battery. Many are made by the same manufacturer and different logos are put on them.
