I have the car listed above 2jz-ge with vvdi. The water pump was replaced recently. Somehow the crankshaft was rotated and now can't get it back to TDC when I hand crank it. It seems to only go 180 degrees. Help is appreciated, thank you.

Good morning,

Did you rotate the engine and it stopped turning?

Did you crank the engine at any time? I am worried that the timing being out, you may have damaged the valves and you have a valve hitting a piston.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-a-timing-belt-works

I attached the diagram of the marks and how they should be set.

See if that is where the timing line up.

It was cranked, and I also came to the conclusion that valve is bent. I just wanted to run it by an expert. In your opinion, would you replace the cylinder block or try to fix the valves?

The heads would have to be removed and inspected. At the same time, they need to look for piston damage. If there is, then you are talking a total overhaul.

My suggestion is to replace the engine with a good used motor. That would save you money fro both ends.

You can go to a site www. Car-part. Com and enter your information and there will be dozens listed from yards in your area.

I attached one page for you but I found over 400 available for you to view.

This is a huge project to take on. You need a lift, engine crane and a lot of different tools.

To be honest, I would go to alldatadiy.com and you can get a 1 year subscription for your car. Then you can go to the procedure and print out all the steps and pictures for the procedure.

https://www.alldatadiy.com/buy/index.html

It is a very long list of steps for this procedure.

You can also go to www.car-part.com to find a good used engine in your zip code.
