Year and half ago I had coolant going into overflow bottle and would blow lid off, car never got hot. I had local garage to do head gasket. I have had to Kentuck, Ohio, Terra Alta, local driving but then it started loosing about a quart every 80 miles or a little less, no build up in bottle. So I parked it until this week and I ordered in new radiator, 02 sensors, new plugs and wires. I have put lots of new parts on this vehicle in last four years and I love the car it is like new yet minus couple of dents. I replaced coolant sensor switch before head gasket, thermostat, water pump, timing tensioner belts, radiator hoses a lot more. I messed with the idle cable to get it to idle again at 800 to 1,000 but it won't hold after setting. So I am thinking the idle position sensor because it is on tight and all the way to one side of the screw holes. When I set the cable adjustment the white smoke quits coming out tail pipe but when it acts up it does it again but no water in antifreeze or oil. Got any suggestions?

Welcome to 2CarPros.

If you see excessive white smoke from the exhaust and are using coolant, it sounds like the coolant is making its way into the combustion chamber and burning. It doesn't have to mix with the oil for there to be a head gasket issue.

Take a look through this link and see if it helps.

Let me know what you find.

I will know when the small local garage gets done with it once more. This is the last time I am sinking any money into it. Thank you for the info.
