I have a 2003 Tahoe with a 5.3 with 80,000 on it and we just drove up the Alaska Highway and when we got to AK the "check engine" light came on. So I had it scanned and the code came back as "fuel difficency" on banks 1&2. I cleaned the mass air flow sensor but it is still missing at idle. Once I accelerate it runs fine! Any ideas? Thanks!

That is exactly what Kin means.

The 5.3 motors did have a problem with a leaking fuel pressure regulator, very fine, but there none the less. You can visually check that.

Every manufacturer maybe every model has their different criteria set and build into the softwareon how to monitor and whatever it takes to trip the code for the same code which is protcol as OBD2 by EPA. It is call strategy. Ie ford on most model use DPFE to monitor the EGR sytem and set P0402. Some chevy use MAP sensors to detect P0402 and Nissan like to use EGT sensor to monitor and detect system failure. HEY BOTTOM LINE. NO CODES NO DEAL!

Ok we had a friend with a scanner scan it so we will have to have him rescan and get them or I will ask if he remembers. We have had the "Hoe" for almost a year and this is the first issue we have had with it so we are like newbies with this code scan thing. Thanks!

Advance and enchance data scan is whats mechanic today do in driveability performance diagnostic all day long. It is not some numbers jumps out and grab u to indicate the problems. Its years of experience and training to recognize a failure pattern to conclude to a problems.
All i'm asking u to get is the codes don't worry about the scan data. Leave that to a mechanic. Await for ur results
