my 2001 chevy cavalier around 60,000 miles on it. has a problem. there is a lite on the dash board " trac is off " it keeps coming on then the car starts to jerk while you drive. so i have to pull over and shut the car off for a second. then start it back up and then the car is fine for a while or until the next day. i do not understand what the problem could be so if you can help that would be great thanks dave.

If this is an automatic look for the traction control button on the gear selector. You may be accidentally pressing the button. If not, then the traction control system is out of whack and it may be a bad sensor for the traction system.
