I have a 2005 Chevy Tahoe, @63000 miles. After I pump gas, my truck won't start. It looses all power and won't turnover. Usually I've driven home from my workday (30 miles) before I make the stop for gas. The truck will start after it has sat in the parking lot at work all day but not after the gas is pumped. I don't leave the doors open or anything on when I'm pumping the gas. I have even brought along the voltage meter to check the battery after this occurence, and the battery is charged enough every time. I find it a conicidence that only when I pump gas, I am having issues. Please help.

Does the engine crank and not start, or not crank at all? How do you finally get it going?

The engine doesn't even crank. The truck has to be jumped to be started. We've tested the battery right after the truck dies, and it's always charged. My truck will start every time as long as I haven't opened the gas cap. Got any suggestions?

Have it scanned for trouble codes with a Tech2 scanner. You could have a security system issue.

Thank you for the quick reply. Do you know what would cause this? Or is it a malfunction in the computer of the vehicle? Or do you think someone has tampered with the gas cap? Thanks again for your help:>) Marcy

I'm not sure how the gas cap affects it. The no crank sounds like a security system fault. That would keep it from cranking when the battery is fully charged. If you have trouble codes stored, that will give us a better starting point.
