Your Throttle Position Sensor could be bad. Test it to see if it functions properly. Also, check the air cleaner for obstructions and of course replace a dirty air filter.

The cat converter, if they fail they collapse and block the exhaust, causing sever power loss and they do start to over heat and glow red.

If you have good fuel pressure there is no issue there, do you have good flow rate, have you change the filter? Have you done a scan for any unresolved fault codes, is your reg controlled by vacuum? Is the vacuum supply OK, if vacuum operated, does the pressure alter with vac on and off?

Also try disconnecting the the exhaust system for the exhaust manifolds to relieve the output pressure and see if you get better power.
