For a couple of years when you would try to start the car it would never start on the first try (it would turn over good but not crank) you would have to turn the key off and try again and on the second try it would crank right off. But the other day it was running great and as I stoped at a stop sign it quit running without warning and would not start. I can splash gas in the carb and it will crank and run until the gas runs out (I was told there was a recall on this particular model on something to do with the fuel pump). Woul appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks,
Wayne

Wayne:

I tried looking up recalls or TSB's and found nothing directly related to the fuel pump. You may need to call a dealer to confirm that. Regardless, I believe your guess with a fuel pump problem is accurate if it starts when you prime it.

Here is a how to for checking fuel pressure to the fuel rail. If you have pressure there, then the pump is good and there is a problem with the injectors.

Let me know what you find.
