I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3L automatic. It is a 2wd 3dr. It has 90000 miles on it.

The battery is good. The alternator is good. The starter is working. I have replaced the fuel filter. It will start after pumping the gas. I can shut it off and it will start immediately every time. If it sits it will take several tries to restart by pumping the gas.

I suspect the fuel pump, costly. Is there any other ideas as to the problem. I have only gone through 2 sets of tires and one battery in 7 years. Never had any problems before.

Appreciate any ideas.

Check the fuel pressure-could be a FPR/PUMP/leaking injectors.

You need a fuel pressure gauge or try this pinch off the return line and see what happens.
